We where so inspired by the passion and insight with which Liz described her travels through Bolivia, Peru and the Colca Canyon, and the fact that she identified two relatively undiscovered destinations in central America, that we decided to put a ticket in her hand and point her in the direction of the airport. Both counties have long been of interest of us here at Black Tomato and while we have all been vying for the chance to travel there and return home with invaluable gems of insider knowledge, we felt that Liz would do a fantastic job of reporting back on our behalf.
Honduras, with it’s laid back pace of life, colonial mountain towns and beautiful off shore reefs, combined with visiting neighbouring Guatemala, renowned for it’s coffee, intense past and colourful Sunday markets will no doubt make an unforgettable trip. We can’t wait to hear back from her- Will the coconut bread be as delicious as it sounds? Will the vines, ferns and moss that grow in the canopy of the Parque Nacional Celaque cloud forest really block out daylight? Will the sunrise seen from the highest point in Central America, the Tajumulco Volcano, be so dazzling that we’ll need to send a search party to guide her back down? And when the adventure comes to an end, will the Mayan Worry Dolls help dispel all thoughts of going back to work and tackling the in-box?
We’ll keep you posted…
